Thank you Michael.  Of the two, I also prefer the second.
In the first my purpose was to continue the flow of Eliza’s dress downward.
I think the dress makes the sculpture and the flare of her hips does catch the eye.

Actually I think it would be even better if you put the statue’s shadow on the ground in front of the picture like it would be if the sun were really behind the subject.
