One of my on going projects for some time has been restoring old family photos.
Here is one of them of my brother, that I decided to take an extra step on.
1st is original
2nd is restored
3rd Well…you will see!

Thank You! The colorizing is very time intensive.

Oh my God! This is insanely beautiful. How on earth did you get it so perfect this way? Please open a new thread to teach us. Bravo.

Thank You Silky!
Many, many hours spent doing restorations, still have many to do (family photos)
Colorizing a photo is even more time intensive. A lot of it is interpreting what shade of grey scale is about what color.
I have done a couple of them and when shown to my mom, she couldn’t believe how close I was.
Of course quality of restoration relys heavily on condition of original print.

Back with another restored photo from yesteryear.
This one is of my dad back when he was in the Navy
Stationed in Alaska. 1950’s I believe.
Funny thing is when my Dad saw the last one he couldn’t believe it was him.

Nice job Ryan, I tried restoring some of my old photos and it is definitely a time consuming job. I like the results you came up with a specially the firs photo of your brother, the only thing I think its missing is some grain to still keep the vintage look in it.
