The annual Swiftsure Yacht Race is taking place

this weekend in Victoria so I got a few pics of the

boats. By the way – the one that has the price of $850.000 USD

is on sale this weekend only – goes back to the original price on

Monday so if anyone’s interested you’de better hurry lol!DSC_6203-2.jpgDSC_6204-2.jpgDSC_6239.jpgDSC_6211.jpgDSC_6168-3.jpgDSC_6165.jpgDSC_6138.jpgDSC_6127-2.jpgDSC_6124-2.jpg

Mandrake – Just to avoid any confusion, the first 5 pics

are NOT of the annual yacht race. On close inspection

you will notice that they are of our harbour ferry service,

followed by kayaks, a boat mooring following a fishing trip and

a horse and carriage. The horse and carriage could have been a

longshot contender though after looking at a couple of the boats

entered lol! The last 4 pics do show the inner harbour area where

the competing entries are situated.

Great set of photos, Dale.  Victoria sure looks like a fun place to be.  You are a lucky man.

I would be better suited for the little gray house boat than the catamaran.  Do you know if it’s for sale.
I can see the little taxi shuttle stopping by to take me to the local deli or to refresh my supply of jwb.

No Limit Charters… I once knew a lady with that calling card.
And the carriage… We have our NY version.  In the winter a cozy blanket is provided to keep you warm,
as did the No Limit lady if you wished.

I have to know what the sign depicting the four walking people is all about.
Please research it for me and report back.

All of these boats reminded me of this.  A shot of my ship leaving Ft. Schuyler for adventures unknown.
I was aboard, so obviously, did not take this photo.

The bridge is the Throgs Neck, under construction at the time.  Seems like yesterday.

You would probably have some great stories to tell to

our oldest son (he’s the one in the navy) about your

travels and adventures. He’d probably be able to relate

a few of his own too – he has been to some “different”

places with alternate customs to our own.

Because you asked – the four people in the pic actually

represent:

1. Dogs must be leashed on lower causeway.

2. No rollerblading allowed on lower causeway.

3. No skateboarding  ”       ”      ”        “

4. No bicycle riding    ”       ”     ”         ”      – There are small green additions

to the pics depicting the above but the figures in the pic are too small to show them.

And yes – this is one hell of a great place to be a resident of and I only hope that not too

many more people find out how great it is. We have too many people moving here as it is!

I like the 1st, 4th and 5th shot in this set…

In the first shot, i like everything…

In the 4th shot i wish the whole yacht was in the focus…

In the 5th shot , i like it being taken from the backside…

Great set of shots…you are really making me roam around your country , while me sitting in my country!!

Thanks for that….

Sam

I’m glad you enjoy looking at the pics of where I live.

I was all set to go back to the causeway before sunrise

the next morning with my tripod and camera to get some

cool shots of the boats and surrounding area all lit up reflecting

on the water but the damned rain started and wouldn’t let up so

that ended that idea. I plan on getting some night shots soon now

that the weather is getting better and will post them when that happens.

Dale.
