Digital Camera World Magazine is running a tutorial on how to covert a color image to black
and white using Photoshop Elements.  They’ve provided two downloads to use.
I’ve not seen the tutorial, but gave it a shot with one of them using Lightroom 5 and Photoshop Elements 10.
Below is their color version and my black and white.  If you like, see what you can do with it.

Your B&W conversion turned out pretty good. I tried it by using Ps6 and got similar results as yours.
