This is that I like to photograph the most – portraits with fashion flair, creating a bit of fantasy.

Nikon D7000
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G Lens

1. Image on the left: f5.6 1/800 ISO100
2. Image on the right: f3.2 1/2000 ISO100

Silver reflector was used to add some light and create a catch light in the eyes.

+ enhancement in Lightroom and retouching in Photoshop.

Love the composition and use of rule of thirds in the photo on the left. Good color in both. Not sure about the white eyelashes. They do attract attention. Are you happy with the lens? I’m thinking of getting it, or maybe the f/1.8. I have no prime at the moment.

I love my 50mm. Use it all the time for this type of work. But it is a bit shorter of my new full sensor body, so I looking into buying 85mm.

Yes, I would imagine your 50mm DX lens would be more like a 35mm on your full frame D800. You might find the 85mm a bit long as 50 x 1.5 equals only 75. It’s all so confusing. I’m getting a headache.

Loved the color combination and very original concept. Was the 2nd picture a crop, or did you approach the subject?

Daniela, the second picture wasn’t cropped.

Mandrake, The 85mm would be better for close up, let distortion then 50mm. I would probably still use 50mm for full body.

Lovely photos Oksana! Can you share any further details regarding flash, reflectors or any other light modifiers if used? Excellent work!

Silver reflector was used to add some light and create a catch light in the eyes. I use reflectors a lot when taking pictures of people on location. You just need an assistant to hold it. You can also attach it to the stand, but it doesn’t work very well for me, since I move a lot during the shoot and by holding it you can control it much better.
