Trying to join the club :-) After watching the videos, I took my first moon shots last night. Each was taken with a Nikon d600 with a 28-300mm lens at f9 1/125. I changed the white balance for each.

1. Auto
2. Shade
3. Cloudy
4. Direct sun
5. fluorescent
6. incandescentmoon-auto.jpg

Congratulations, Michael. Some very nice shots.
I took the liberty of enhancing your direct-sun white balance version with some PSE 10 and Lightroom 5 adjustments.
This is the result….. along with your very official membership card certifying your entry into the Mooning Club.

Actually, this is an excellent shot. I see features that I don’t remember seeing before. Good job, Michael.

It’s the same moon, Brian.
Try and find a different one.

OK………………………. Excellent shot. You got all the detail with great exposure.
Hand held at 1/60th for this is amazing.
I would have increased IS0 to at least 400 which would have brought the shutter speed to 1/240th.
I can’t figure out your focal lengths for this camera. Property details show 215mm for this shot.

Oh, and it’s the Mooning Club and members are Mooners.

Congratulations Michael – you are a Mooner!!!
The shots are great and the second one on shade setting
really shows the moon in a butter like color that we see here
so often…I’ll have to take a lesson from you and try some shots
with that setting!
Brian – Great details – I’m impressed at your camera’s ability to
render such a clear image with full zoom. I would have expected
to see a slight softness but this is quite crisp and detailed.
Great shot Canadian Mooner!

searchercam2001, If you a wandering what is going on with your post, don’t. It is not an internet ghost. It is just me.
I fixed your post a bit. You deleted half of the image link and it wasn’t displayed. I hope you don’t mint.

Good details on the moon by the way!

searchercam2001 posted the photo of the moon and wanted to become a mooner, but I don’t see his picture anymore.
