Mandrake
Wish I could figure a way out to tape a Canon telephoto
to a Nikon body!
Guess I’ll have to go out and buy a 70-300 Nikon lens one
day. Don’t know what is keeping the Rebel going anymore.
This thing has taken a LOT of pictures and the shutter must be
ready to pack it in any day now!!!
I might sell my Canon lenses and invest in a nice Nikon lens – I have
the 70-300, the kit lens and the 50mm 1.8. Not L series stuff but they
still turn out some respectable shots. Will keep you posted. The Rebel
body is only good for a door stop now so it won’t be part of the sale lol.
Dale.

Michael… This is a video that Oksana provided awhile ago.
It should give you all you need to know for a perfect shot.

https://easy-exposure.com/photo…..raph-moon/

Oksana mentions in the video the use of a cable release.
I don’t have one. Maybe you do.
If not… put the release mode on timer (2 seconds was fine for me.)
I would manually focus in live view with good use of the zoom button (the one with the +).

Good luck.. there is always tomorrow if the clouds come.

One thing to remember Michael – the sky is dark but you are focusing on
a very bright object.
I usually use somewhere around f6.3 @ 1/250th or even higher shutter speed
and ISO of 100-200. I usually take the shot @ 300mm hand held with IS on.
Best thing to do is experiment with ISO and shutter speeds etc. until it works for
you.
Mandrake gave you some very good advice – go to Oksana’s video on photographing
the moon and she will make it clear on how to get a clear shot! Had to throw that in (sorry).
Good luck.Smile
Dale.
