This little guy was on the road, taking a break from his long walk. I stopped and helped finished his journey across the road so he wouldn’t get run over.

If the photo was mine, it would be named “Turtle Soup”.
Nice shot, Brian. I am sure Mr. Turtle is very grateful to you.

This turtle is a Western Painted Turtle.
It is so named for obvious reasons.
Considerable information may be found here: http://www.austinsturtlepage.c…..ainted.htm

Brian
Great shot!
Have you got these things running wild in Hamilton?
Thank you Professor Mandrake for the info.
What the hell are a stampeding group of these things called?
A herd? Just thought I’d ask.

No this little guy was on Concession 4 Road in Smithville…about 20 miles outside of Hamilton. It is where I grew up. I showed my daughter the farm I grew up on, then on the way back to the highway found Mr Turtle taking a break.

A stampede of turtles??? Well herd is good. But the technical term is a bale of turtles.

Brian
A bale of turtles?
That may be a term that even Mandrake would be unfamiliar with lol!!!
If he sees this you can bet there will be a post with more info on the
subject.
Time to get to work.
Dale.
