I like the backlight translucence of the second photo.

I would have cleaned up the flower a bit before taking the shot
by removing some of the dead material.  You might want to remove
the scratch like mark at center left of the image as it is distracting.

I don’t care for the first photo at all as it looks like the flower is covered with maggots.

Indeed. Could have cleaned the flower before. But I was thinking more of a natural shot. (with decaying parts in it – 

portraying reality.

 

I couldn’t focus all the parts in the red flower as you can see above.

Is it because I used a wider aperture?

with D5100 + 50mm f/1.8 can’t I get the same shot with everything in focus ?

Praveen… I would think that an aperture of f/8 should get everything in focus.
If your shutter speed falls below 1/60th sec. then increase your ISO.
If everything is still not in focus go to f/11.
