DSC_1188.jpgCouple of night shots of the causeway in Victoria.

Second shot was taken just as a huge fog bank was rolling into the area.

You can see the misty appearance that it is starting to cause.

The large building in the foreground houses the Robert Bateman museum. Many original works

are on display representing his lifelong love of painting.DSC_1188-2.jpgDSC_0973-2.jpg

Again nice pictures “nightguy”. The second picture is my favorite, this is a bit warmer. The ISO 100 setting certainly contributes to the sharpness of the pictures. You have these pictures I assume taken on a tripod, especially with a shutter speed of 8 sec. Despite the long shutter speed, every detail is sharp. Very nice!!

Thanks for the positive feedback Mick – appreciated!

I agree that the second picture is warmer but I actually wanted the 1st shot to

portray a colder night feel while highlighting the vivid blue lights.

I did warm the second shot up and didn’t really mind the effect of the slight haze

caused by the fog. Pics taken using tripod. Used autofocus and then switched off and

turned VR off. Used remote release and bracketed several shots to pick the most useable

ones. I think I used f18 or something like that to maximize amount of subject in focus.

Having fun with night shots and found Oksanas videos on the subject extremely helpful.

I might post a “warmed up” version of the first shot if I get the time to do some additional

post processing on it one day.

Dale.

Here is a “warmed up” version of the same pic for you to compare.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Hmmmm, somebody forgot to post the pic.

Ohhhhhh, I see… You added it with an edit to the original post.
Very crafty, indeed, indeed.

Mandrake

Guess I got lucky and managed to get both images on the same post.

Wasn’t sure if it was going to work but glad it did. Learned something

by trying it.

The real colours of the causeway would be somewhere between the two

shots. The spot lighting is pretty cool – blue and vibrant, but the Parliament

Building lights are definitely more like the colour of the warmer image.

The foggy picture is pretty close to the actual colours – just increased the

saturation a little bit due to the haze.
