I totally agree with you! They do look old-fashion and all this designs totally distract from the photos. I prefer photos to be logicaly layed out on a black or white background. You don’t need crazy background to make an album interesting. Play with layout and sizes of the images. Mix color photos with B&W. Tell the story!

Different printing companies have some kind of software, which helps you to lay them out.

Also Lightroom has a Book Module now. Two options are available for publishing: Blurb (online book printing company) and PDF (for electronic format).

Also you should do a bit of research, what is popular on the wedding market, where you live. People might have totally different taste, depending on the culture.

There are lots of tutorials on youtube that should be of

help to you. When I started with Lightroom I just played around

with the settings and it wasn’t long before everything worked just

fine. You should check out youtube for help and go ahead and

play around with a picture in Lightroom. It really isn’t hard to figure

out once you get used to it.

Oksana gave you some good advice about the wedding photos so good

luck with that too!

Dale.

Christ dude, whoever made those templates should have their copy of photoshop taken away.

Less is more, simple is good. Look at the WPPI album of the year winners for 2012, very clean and simple designs. Your images should be strong enough to stand on their own.

If you shoot weddings on the regular subscribe to photoshop CC and get a Fundy Album Builder License.
