Some scenes of Victoria BC, the city I live in.
The fifth pic is at the entrance to one of our

1. Like the color
2. Like the reflection, but you can avoid the yellow boat, sorry it’s my opinion only.
3. Like the cloudy sky and the color of water, this one is my favorite photo among these.
4. No comment.
5. Like the bubbles, but you may crop the top portion, again it’s only my opinion.
6. Like the color of nature.
Finally, Congrats Dale for such beautiful shots from your native place

Muneer
Thanks for the comments – I really do love where I live.
The yellow boat could have been left out but it represents
one of our many whale watching companies so I added it.
The last picture shows the Coho – a ferry that is slightly over
50 years old now and serves to shuttle us between Victoria and
Port Angeles (USA).

Dale… Victoria appears from your photos to be a great place to live.
The whale watching craft seems a bit small… wouldn’t want to be over a whale when it surfaced.
Have you flown in the small sea planes? Looks like fun.

I’ve noticed that you use spot metering. I use matrix, except for very rare occasions.
Think maybe I have some research to do.

As always… very nice shots.

The Coho will be missed when she finally retires.
Many memories of her as the first step to trips to
Disneyland with my parents.
Mandrake
Victoria is indeed a great place to call home.
In my pics I attempt to (as you earlier stated) be the
camera and present realistic images of where I live.
The whale watching boats are very careful to observe the
distance between them and whales rules so it would be
very unlikely that a whale would surface beneath one.
I have not been on a seaplane but I have flown in 4 seaters
up and down the island. Lots of fun!!! I ALWAYS use spot metering
because I have never had great success with matrix etc. Spot nearly
always puts what I want in focus so I stay with it.
Dale.

Love the pictures. Especially the first one.

I’m very fortunate to have visited Victoria B.C. In 2005. Also Vancouver and Whiterock.

Victoria is beautiful. I love the parliament building. There is a famous hotel I think it’s called either the Empress hotel or the Emperor Hotel. Don’t remember exactly but it was near by the parliament building. People were super friendly. It was a wonderful trip I would love to visit again.

Monkey

You are absolutely right about the Empress Hotel. The official

name is The Fairmont Empress Hotel but we all just call it the

Empress! It took 4 years to build – 1904-1908 and has been designated

a National Historic Site of Canada. It really is a great hotel and it is located

across from our Parliament Buildings as you stated.

So glad you enjoyed your stay here and we would love you to visit here and

take in the scenery any time you are able to do so.

By the way, the Empress has hosted many famous people including royalty

and movie stars. Even Shirley Temple stayed here with her parents in the 30’s.

Dale.
