Some great examples of your newly found ND toys, or were the long exposures otherwise needed?
I really do like the first and would like it even more if you just…….. Well, you know.
For some reason, these are better appreciated by clicking on the image titles at the bottom of the post.
Nice set, Michael.  Congratulations.

Here’s a nice short article on dreamy water and such with ND filters.

Great images!!!
The horizon isn’t level but hey – the colours and overall feeling of the shot
work perfectly.
2nd and 3rd pics are great too. You must been using a really wide lens.
Hope someday we will all be able to take pics like this but without the
distortion caused by the lens..
Dale.

yes, they were taken with a Nikkor 28mm 1.8… each was taken about 15 minutes before sunrise so each had a long exposure.  I actually used an ND filter for the second one to smooth out the ocean… it had a 113 second shutter speed.

Well – the images turned out really well and the long exposure really gave the
scenes a soft, almost surrealistic appearance.
Photography is really turning into an art form that is only limited by our imagination
now.
Dale.

Dale… I don’t really think we have lens distortion.
It’s that the outside pilings lean inwards and the center pilings are straight.

Michael…  We’re not under a boardwalk.  We’re under a pier.
Although, I do remember that it was a great song.

I know… Who asked me?

I love the 1st, 2nd and 3rd picture Michael. You know what, I think I actually love all of them :) kidding aside, this are really lovely shots Michael, the pastel colors of the sky are perfect.

I know why Mandrake likes the first image, it’s because the water is not silky :D. hehehee..

I was on a blanket with my baby…

For those interested:

Under the boardwalk

Oh, when the sun beats down and burns the tar up on the roof
And your shoes get so hot, you wish your tired feet were fireproof
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea
On a blanket with my baby is where I’ll be

(Under the boardwalk) Out of the sun
(Under the boardwalk) We’ll be havin’ some fun
(Under the boardwalk) People walking above
(Under the boardwalk) We’ll be falling in love
Under the boardwalk, boardwalk

From the park you hear the happy sound of a carousel
Mmm, you can almost taste the hot dogs and French fries they sell
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea, yeah
On a blanket with my baby is where I’ll be

(Under the boardwalk) Out of the sun
(Under the boardwalk) We’ll be havin’ some fun
(Under the boardwalk) People walking above
(Under the boardwalk) We’ll be falling in love
Under the boardwalk, boardwalk

Oh, under the boardwalk, down by the sea, yeah
On a blanket with my baby is where I’ll be

(Under the boardwalk) Out of the sun
(Under the boardwalk) We’ll be havin’ some fun
(Under the boardwalk) People walking above
(Under the boardwalk) We’ll be falling in love
Under the boardwalk, boardwalk
