Great color, Sam.
The colors of the sky reflect off the water and the beach.
And the long shutter speed gives the sea that silky look. silky, not Silky. lol
Were these handheld?

I love these photos Sam. What’s your experience with the Tamron? I read somewhere that it gives soft images which these ones are definitely not.

Mandrake, the shot couldn’t have been handheld by any magic.lol 2.5 seconds! Impossible.

All are beauty shot, but Sam, you have to buy a ND to get more of your ability , If this shot were made with a Gradual Neutral Grey G2 (ND8) it would a fantastic escene, is not spencive you have a wonderfull location don’t loss to explote it.
Good Luck and Congratulation.

Silky, could you please explain what ND filter would do to improve these photos?

Thank you very much everyone .
Yes I did use, a tripod, a cable release, ND2 Filter and a ND2 Graduated filter. Set the ISO to the lowest which in my camera it’s 100 and set the exposure compensation to its lowest (-5).

Great colors and tones. Wish the beaches
where I live looked like the one you photographed!
After seeing your pics I think I will wait a while before
posting a beach pic from here lol!
Again – great pics…Dale

Dale:
Yes tripod is really useful while taking slow shutter speed photos. One very important thing is you must turn off your lense VR (vibration reduction) when using a tripod. Since shutter speed is very slow, VR motor can cause motion blur. I didn’t know it when I took these photos.
In these photos, if you look carefully, you can see very light blur in stationary objects.

Thanks for the tripod tips. Your pictures are great
and if there is motion blur it sure isn’t very noticeable.
I would like to get a tripod for my 35mm lens – no IS on
that one so you have to be very steady or use a quick
shutter speed. Ocean shots using a slow shutter speed
are especially cool!

Thanks Dale. If you are buying a tripod, I would suggest that, buy a ball head tripod. I have a pan head one, which is a bit hard to adjust. I heard ball head tripods are easy to adjust.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve been told that a good tripod
is a good investment so when the time comes I will go for
a good one with a ball head. Also like the idea of a cable
release. I recently joined a camera club where I live so I’m
going to learn a lot about photography in the future – some
really experienced and talented members that I can learn
from. Merry Christmas…Dale
