A little hello from the Island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean.
I started with photography just for fun using my mobile phone (SE 8M Pixels) and slowly began to like it. Last year I bought a Nikon D3200 with its 18-55mm VR lens and started shooting a few photos here and there. I must admit that my location is considered prime because of its tropical nature and moreover because of the variety of colors, sunset and people living on this piece of rock lost in the Indian Ocean.

I take pictures for fun and always experimenting new angle and still learning from the Nikon. I must say a BIG THANK YOU to Oksana because it is through her tutorial that I am learning all the basics. I have not chosen which type of photography (landscape, nght, sports, etc) I will go for. Photography for me is by inspiration. What your eyes want to see, is what you should be able to express and convey in a photo.

Well, that’s about it, I guess.

Have a great day.

Rachid

PS: I am sharing a few photos here and I hope the admin would not. I try not to use Photoshop except in extreme cases to enhance colors, exposure. Most have been re-sized. As for the sunset, I used 3 different filters on the lens because I wanted to express the various color blending in this shot. The last shot, I named it Baroque, because it is amazing what a camera shake can do.

I’d like the third one best too…. if it wasn’t crooked.

Welcome Rachidk.  Our active group is dwindling.
We look forward to your contributions.

Getting horizons perfectly straight in-camera is very difficult.
I usually need a bit of post to get it right.

a very interesting shot Rachidk!  I know others don’t like the selective color, but I think it looks good here.

As Michael, I also like the selective color in this shot.
The photo, however, still needs additional post processing to increase contrast and sharpening.
(Love escargot in a good garlic butter sauce.)

I just made escargot a few days ago for Julianna and myself.  She has never had them before, and she loved them.  Mmmmm snails.

Ooops I seemed to have missed all these replies. Apologies then.

All noted and thank you for all the comments. Mandrake, you are going to love this one.. I took a series of shots of this fellow, added some texts and it was a laugh after.
