Did I mention that I was a Yankee fan?

This is a first day cover commemorating the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.
The majority of the 1939 Yankee team has signed the back of one of the envelopes as requested
by a relative who was dying of tuberculosis at the time.

1939 was the last year that Lou Gehrig played baseball and was also very early in Joe Dimaggio’s career.
A number of these people, including Manager Joe McCarthy, have since been inducted into the Hall of Fame.1939-NY-Yankees.jpg

Dale…. I’d almost forgotten that I had this.
Your “museum” comment prompted me to dig it out and take the photo.
The item will go back to it’s darkened place to protect the ink from fading.

Mandrake
Another incredible piece of history! The names are iconic and the ink is very well
preserved. In looking at the signatures I am surprised at how well each players penmanship
appeared to be!
Todays autographs usually need a translator to make any sense of who actually signed anything.
You are going to have the relatives lined up for the reading of your will one day!!!
Hope you live many more years to enjoy the treasures you have collected.
As always- thanks for sharing some more of your “one of a Kind” collection from days long past.
Dale.

What a yard sale that would be!!!
But I think you’d need deep pockets to buy a lot of the items that
would be offered for sale!
Dale.
