Hello Uldridge. Welcome to our forum.
We look forward to seeing your photos.

Composition…. I find the first photo a bit busy and somewhat perplexing with respect to the cables.
Their inclusion distracts attention from the main subjects.
I tried a crop and liked it better… give it a try.

I do like the positioning of the couple.
A bit provocative, but provocative is good.

Second photo… again, I would crop to remove the metal plates.
Otherwise, I think the composition is fine.
I like that the bridge is only slightly out of focus.
It does divert attention, but it is an interesting diversion.

Things to remember to get a shallow dof and good bokeh:
1. Use a wide aperture (small number) and
2. a long focal length, meaning to zoom in.
3. Get close to your subject and
4. have a long distance between your subject and its background.

Thank you Sir Mandrake.

I’d like to use a wide aperture however my widest aperture is f3.5 as of now.

:)

Thank you.

f/3.5 is certainly wide enough to get shallow depth of field.

Hmm.. Maybe I still need to learn how to use DoF… I actually download DoF calculator on my mobile phone however I can’t apply it during photoshoot..

Thank you.
