My latest moon shots have motivated me to start looking for a tripod… I think I’d like a travel tripod that is not too big when folded… any suggestions?

thanks,
Michael

Hi mscharff,

I purchased from the Web a WF-6662A Tripod last year. When I received it, I could not believe how sturdy and light it was.
I call it the poor mans Manfrotto, LOL and if you saw it you would know what I mean.
It is made by the WEIFENG Group and I highly recommend it for traveling.

Please see Pic for details.

Hi Michael,

I just bought the Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod with a 804RC2 head and I have to say that it is amazing. It is incredibly sturdy, and shrinks down to a good manageable size. It even has a couple small loupes so you can connect a shoulder strap to it.

Highly recommended.

Thanks… I’ve done some more research and looking at Benro Travel Angel II and the Manfrotto 293 (let me know if anyone has any others I should be considering). The 293 looks to be slightly smaller than the 190. I think both can be found for around $200. Anyone have any experience with these?
