I have not a Nikon5100 but a Nikon D3200.  My first electronic flash was a Metz Mecablitz 36 AF-5. But I was not for 100% satisfied so I sold this one and bought the Metz Mecablitz 44 AF-1. This one was better but… And now I have the perfect combination and I am very pleased with it. The Nikon SB 910, the really perfect combination with a Nikon camera. Oke the flash is expensive but you get the best combination in any circumstances.
