Very nice. How do you like the D600?
You took this shot at 300mm. What lens
did you actually use @ 300mm?

Nice sharpness and bokeh is good, but i dont understand “which camera are you trying out and which lens exactly?” is it a 300mm prime or telephoto zoom?Smile

So far I really like the 600… just hope I don’t end up with a lot of issues with dust spots/issues. the lens is a AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR

Michael… I wish you all the best with your new camera.
I think the D600 and the new 28-300 is an excellent combination for 90% of your needs.
Maybe a prime or two to complete your bag.

To be perfectly honest, I would have purchased this camera awhile ago if it were not
for the reported dust issue. I am sure many in the group are anxious to learn of your
first hand experience. Please post often and give us your unbiased thoughts.

Again… Good luck with your new camera and lens.
It must be very exciting for you.

Thanks Mandrake… will do. I also ordered an 85mm 1.8G last month with the Nikon lens discount that is due to arrive today :-) I’m hoping that is a good start for me.

I have a D7000 and the concern was with visible oil spots on
the pics. I do see (a few) small spots sometimes with pics taken
against a very blue sky but they’re easily removed in post processing.
I think you have made an excellent choice with the purchase of the
D600 and you should get out there and enjoy all it has to offer. I’ve
read that the 28-300 is a great choice for this camera too!
Dale.

85mm 1.8G is a great lens, especially for portraits/head-shots on FX body. On DX 50mm was one of my favorites, but on FX it is too short now and gives too much distortion. 85mm is the way to go.
