Largest known moth on earth? This Atlas moth has a wingspan
the size of a large dinner plate but only lives about 5 days after
emerging from its cocoon. This pic was taken with the moth housed
in a mesh enclosure. Lizards are housed in a glass terrarium like enclosure
to simulate their natural conditions in the wild. Next time I’m taking a spray
bottle of Windex to clean the damned glass! DSC_2430-2-1.jpgDSC_2437-1.jpgDSC_2556-1.jpgDSC_2517-1.jpg

The glass is fine, Dale.
I like the two lizards holding hands in the second shot the best.

Atlas Moth… 5 days? Hardly worth the effort.

Mayflies have the shortest lifespan of all animals. There are over 2,500 species.
They have a life expectancy ranging from just half an hour to one day, depending on their species.
Their sole purpose in life is to hatch, and reproduce.

Mandrake
Guess it was a Mayfly that coined the phrase “live fast and die young”.
Dale.

I like the 2nd and the 4th shot….but just that in the 4th shot…the mirror image of the lizard is little distracting.
But still both shots are very sharp and the composition is good enough!Smile
