Here are a few more shots of herons busy setting up
house high in the pine trees at the park.
I would estimate that they are nesting at least 60-80 feet
near or at the top of the trees. Will keep you guys posted
on progress and get some pics of chicks later (if possible).

Appreciate the comments Sam.
Now I have to find something else to
take pics of – eagles maybe if I can find
out where they’re nesting around here!

Back to the old Rebel, are you?
I’m thinking you deserve the 55-300 DX for the 7000.

The second photo is, of course, the best… for many reasons.
Foremost being the “story” of a determined mother-to-be building her nest.

Re the sign. If dogs are not allowed in the Rookery,
it is not necessary to tell people to not let them chase the birds.
You should notify the proper authorities of their illogical logic.

Mandrake
Yes – I do need a telephoto for the Nikon and
I will be getting one soon hopefully!
I can’t believe the old Canon still works – it’s far
exceeded the 50K shots that the shutter is rated for.
I only use it because I have the 70-300 for it but it
really is time to retire the old Rebel soon!
As far as the heron sign – well…this is Canada and we
have learned to accept the fact that the initial thought
sometimes gets a little screwed up when transferred to
a written message. It’s just a Canadian thing.
Dale.
