Daffodils and Volkswagen with some
ridiculous plastic flowers in vase on dash.
Any manipulation done in Lightroom 4.
Full size and manipulation looks better but
not allowed under the guidelines of this forum.DSC_0018.jpgDSC_0257.jpgDSC_0234.jpgDSC_0245.jpgDSC_0297.jpg

Dale… Have you thought of using flickr and linking to posts there?

The flowers in the VW had me.
I was trying to figure out the reflection until I read the text of your post.

Not sure if I like flowers in black and white…… Yes, I am sure. I don’t.
I really like the third shot with the added interest of the path in the background.

Sometimes b/w colors are also good as they add a vintage look to the flower but nevertheless today’s world see flowers in colors only and they are amazing like that!!! Smile

Yes – I have considered posting on flickr and might
give it a try. The jury has spoken and I agree – don’t
post crappy enhanced b&w pics to try and win votes.
You guys were right about the soft shot and vignetting.
Thumbs up!!!

Last shoot is definitely the most interesting. I love the reflections in the window glass.

On other photos you need to think about your composition a bit more. You would think that flowers are so easy to photograph, but it is not true, if you really want to create well balanced and pleasing photo. You need to dance around them with your camera to find a perfect angle where everything falls into place. Sometimes it helps when you find a hero flower and then try to organize all others around it. Often shallow DoF, where you just focus on one or few of them is a good choice.

Dale… Oksana has just posted an excellent video on flash (speedlight) photography.
I don’t know if you use one, or perhaps are contemplating this new adventure.
Anyway… take a look.

Just watched Oksanas video and, as always
she presented it well. It does make me think
about what advantages there are to using a
speedlight over a built in flash. Quite honestly
I never use the flash on my camera but a speedlight
has so much more control that it looks like a great
investment. So, now my priorities are: wide angle lens
telephoto lens and speedlight.
Life would be soooo much easier if I could only figure
out the winning numbers for the damned lottery!!!
