I have some blue jays that love my plums they gather in the late afternoon when the tree is in total shadow, I attempted to take some shots of them with a wide aperture and high iso but the results were very noisy. I then decided to try some shots using my speedlight and I was pleasantly surprise with the results.

Love the last.
Looks more like an Audubon print than a photo. (A good thing).
From the image title (IMG 4244 Edit Edit Edit 2.jpg) it seems that you did a bit of post processing in Lightroom.
It came out great. We have a lot of blue jays in my back yard, but no plumbs. lol.
I spent a lot of time in post, there was so much blue to deal with the sky and birds almost merged, I would get one looking like I want just to see the other one would go the other direction lol. But finally got what I was going for

Nice shots! The speedlight really saved the day for you.
I’ve had problems like that and have managed to save a few
really dark images by spending lots of time in post processing.
Have used both Photoshop and Lightroom to try and bring the
highlights back.
Mandrake is right about the look of the pics. They did turn out
really well.
Dale.
