I tried to shoot a bird on flight. Somehow the autofocus was not so clear. My settings were:-
3D tracking (39 points) AF area mode
continuous high speed(CH) release mode
& Continuous Servo (AF-C) autofocus mode

Advise required to improve.

First shot a little out of focus.
Second shot is great!

I’m not usually one to give advice, I know only a little myself. Having said that I never use the area focus mode on the camera. I find I have much more control with spot focusing. I used birds to teach myself photography so I know how hard it is to get a sharp focus. I like the second shot…

Thanks for your comment JTaylor.
I always appreciate anyone’s advise. Advise comes from the experience and I consider it as a learning. Therefore do post your advise/comments. I will also try to control with spot focusing and shoot. Hope to bring some good pictures soon. LOL…

Jaydev
For what it’s worth I go by the ” keep it simple” rule.
AF-S I don’t use 3D 39 point metering and continuous
high speed release mode and I leave it in single point autofocus
and always shoot in raw so I can make any adjustments necessary
in Lightroom later. Way too many options on new cameras for us
old guys (at least me anyways lol) so I leave the fancy moves to the
younger shooters.

In the first pic increasing the shutter would have brought the bird and its wings in focus…the second one is a cool one!!Smile
