I looked at this little guy laying on a chair in a houseboat and knew

exactly how he felt. It was just one of those days for both of us.DSC_8147-3.jpg

Nice shot, Dale.
At first I thought this was a Westie, but then realized that it’s ears were way too long.

I once owned a Westie.  It was at a time when I thought it was a good idea to have a dog.

Mandrake – Appreciate the comment.

I don’t know what type of dog this is either but he had the look that

said “don’t even think I’m gonna go fetch because that sure as hell aint gonna

happen”!

Dale.

He looks much too depressed to do anything useful.
Much like a lot of the people I know.

Thank you mscharff.

I was happy that it turned out ok because he was in a fairly dark room

behind a not very clean window. Lightroom can do wonders lol!!!

Dale,

Great photograph. Absolutely love it.

The camera metering system most have been going crazy. Tough decision for the camera to make. Should I compensate for the dark or should I compensate for the white.  Did you use a gray card to get the color right?  Wow, this is a color picture that is black and white. That’s pretty cool. The composition is great. excellent use of negative space. The subject is well lit. Did you use a flash with a diffuser to soften the light around the face? It has a studio shot quality feel to it. Love the little guy calm and relax demeanor.

Monkey

Thank you so much for the wonderful comments. In all honesty the picture was

really simple to make. I always shoot in raw and I always shoot in manual mode.

Raw gives me the freedom to make adjustments in post processing and shooting in

manual lets me decide what I think are the right settings for a particular shot. I actually

took 3 shots of this dog and they all turned out quite similar so I chose the one that was

positioned best and went from there. The dog was white and he was laying on a black (or

very dark} leather chair and the room was quite dark. The window was pretty dirty (I cleaned

that up in post) so even though it is a colour shot it has the appearance of b&w. I softened the

appearance a little and did a little work on shadows and highlights (very slight on both). How can

you not get a good result when you have a little guy like this to take a picture of lol!

Thanks again…Dale.Smile
