I want it! I like the window light, which make chocolate shine. You could also put something white (like cardboard for example) on the opposite site from the window light to fill in the shadows by bouncing the light.

Today’s treat – Apple Pie with Whipped Cream
I’ve tried Oksana’s suggestion of using a reflector.
Here are the before and after images.. without and then with the use of a reflector.

I’m thinking I prefer the image without the use of a reflector.
Probably because of the translucence provided by the backlight from the window.
The reflected light, however, does definitely fill in the shadows as Oksana says.
Anyway…. here they are.

And finally… Here’s the shot with no reflector, however with detail in shadows processed with Lr and PsE.
Seems to be the winner.  (Click on the photo for full resolution at flickr.)

of the two initial shots, I think the one with the reflector is better as you can see more details on the shade side…

I prefer reflector as well. I think side light works very well for this subject, since it defines texture of the cream. What I think is a bit distracting here is that white reflection of the window on the table (right top corner).

Forget the technical side of everything…we all are waiting for the most important information.  How was the pie?

I think it’s possible to gain weight just looking at this picture lol!
Processed image looks good with use of Lr and PsE.
