Curious who uses Lightroom 5. I bought it about 3 months ago and have been using it alot. I’ve always just used photoshop before.

Now, i use it, and then a little more tweaking with photoshop before finishing.  But really, up to this point, I don’t see any major advantages of using lightroom now. I can pretty well, do all those things in photoshop alone, but will continue to use Lightroom anyway.

I use Lightroom a lot for everything : organizing, editing, print output, batch processing, tethering, presenting images to the clients to choose from (also Mobile lightroom on iPad). I go into Photoshop for retauching and composing. Lightroom and Photoshoot work great together. I can’t see my life without one or another. It make my workflow so much easier and quicker.

I’m come to realize that using photoshop for MOST things works best for me..Gradients work best in photoshop because you just do them on a dupe layer, and do any erasing thru the gradient you need…so easy. Cloning..photoshop. I think the number one best thing in LIghtroom is sharpening…you got the Luminance and all that stuff…most more elaborate than what photoshop does. I like clarity in Lightroom too. But really, I just find photoshop does most everything. I still enjoy LIghtroom alot though. Oh, and any blurring for backgrounds..i use photoshop too. I just find using the masking in Lightroom too tedious. In photoshop, again……..i dupe a layer…blur…adjust opacity, and then just create a layer mask again, and erase anywhere as needed. So easy. One trick that took me years to realize was available………………when I create a layer mask, in many instances, I will invert it (cntrl+i ).   Then, the photo is just like the original with no effect added such as blurring. YOu use the white color instead of black and just paint IN the blur, or what ever you applied. It’s alot better than having a totally blurry photo and then erasing AWAY.   Do you use that too Oksana?

I work with masks in Photoshop a lot for retouching.
