Interesting that you changed the white balance to adjust color.
I've not done that but have rather relied on Lightroom.

Curious about why your second shot has the background pool pattern while the first does not.
I'd remove the five white specks in the first photo.  (Purist in me.)

Maybe the light changed slightly in the second picture, i don't know. will try to remove the spots using heal or clone. Yes you need a tripod . if you bounce your flash from a wall behind the subject you can avoid any harsh flash from showing in the picture but i don't have a remote flash trigger and use my built in optical trigger in canon 60 D to trigger the remote flash. This is a compromise . i am sure some Nikon cameras can do this as well.
