I think Canon and Nikon had better watch their backs - Sony, Fuji & Olympus to name just three are really proving that they
know how to deliver great images from smaller cameras. Sony has what may be a Nikon/Canon killer with their new line of

Alphas that are small and full frame. Olympus has the new mirrorless model that is getting great reviews, and Fuji

is concentrating on high end small cameras that are also getting high marks. Maybe the day of the 3 pound camera
hooked up to a 5 pound monster telephoto is coming to an end. i think 2014 is going to be a very interesting year for
new cameras and advanced technology.

You may be right about the Canon, but if you already have Nikon glass, it would be very hard to switch to any Canon no matter how good...

The d7100 has the 24mp sensor without the anti-aliasing filter and it certainly is capable of taking remarkably
sharp images. I will definitely have to save for some better glass because this camera deserves it.
The colours are vivid and the iso performance is pretty damned good for a cropped frame 24mp camera. I am
posting a couple of pics of a deer @ 6400 iso and although I wouldn't want to blow either up for framing, they are
acceptable to view in a small size. I really enjoyed my d7000 but I believe that the d7100 has definitely raised the
bar with this camera. IF I was someone who loved to shoot video I would have given the Canon 70D some serious
consideration because it can produce very nice video with smooth focus - probably a little better for sports and action
too because the buffer can pull off more images before filling up.
For dynamic range, richness of colours, layout of buttons (I'm bias here because I love Nikon's controls) and the addition
of 51 autofocus points and 2 card slots and a tougher sealed and weather resistant body and and and...well - you get
the idea. I like the D7100 a lot.

I'm very curious about your findings of the Nikon D7100. I am looking for a replacement for my Nikon D3200 and had my eye on the Nikon D5300. However, the Nikon D7100 also has good specifications. I would like to hear from you.

Hi again guys! Mandrake - The d7100 is exactly what the reviews state - it is a great camera with wonderful dynamic range and remarkable resolution. I have just started taking a few pics with it but I am already impressed with the results.

I didn't die but my beloved Nikon d7000 did! I sent it in to have an

estimate on cost to repair and found out that the shutter was shot

and it would cost over $300 to fix and take quite a while for parts.

Bought a d7100 yesterday and have only taken a couple of test shots but

I am going to really enjoy the feel and operation of this camera. I have

posted a quick shot of my old d7000 beside my new d7100 taken at 400iso

with my even older Canon xsi - not a bad image really.

The shot of my d7000 was taken at 320iso with my d7100. Both pics not

processed and basically out of camera raw images. I have to check for focusing

with the lenses and then get out and try and take some pics (if the rain stops)
