Yes.... I know... it's fast. But it's supposed to be faster and sharper.

Thank you both for your input. As I take another look I

can see that you are both absolutely right! The 35mm is

both sharper and brighter (slightly). I probably should have

picked a better "scene" to conduct the test and if I do another

one I will take great care to be as exact as possible and choose

a subject that will reveal a clear winner.

Michael... For some reason I did not even look at the words "Hamilton Beach".

You are right. Without a doubt, the second photo (35mm prime) is much sharper.

Hmmm... I think there is a difference... I think the second is much sharper... I can see it in both the words Hamilton Beach and Sugar twin... top edge of the toaster look much clearer as well...

Maybe it's just me

Dale... You're right. I see no discernible (is that redundant?) difference in sharpness.

Kind of makes you wonder, I know.

The 35mm shot does seem a bit brighter. Maybe the lighting changed.

Guess I'll have to conduct my own extensive testing. (sigh)

Mandrake - By the way - not my bike.

Here are two shots absolutely right out of the camera

with no enhancement or additional sharpening.

The top shot was taken @ 35mm with the 18-55mm lens

and the bottom was taken using my 35mm prime lens.

I can't tell the difference but maybe others can - let me know.
