Doesn't the little wooden holder for the ulu get in the way when chopping herbs?
Or is it removable from the cutting board?

The block is not attached you just move it.

While walking past my wife's herb chopper I noticed and interesting optical illusion in the chopping blade reflecting the brown band in the board. The stainless steel blade look transparent to me so I grabbed my camera and photographed it.
