Nice pic. but when you want to take a HDR pic. you must choose your location properly. Not every pic. looks good as a HDR.
This pic. is good as a test if you are just begining with HDR, to get to know what to do. ( No offence)
An example... if you are down by the sea or lake, take a pic. of the rocks the sand and get the water and the sky when the sun is setting. I would use an Wide Angle lens, 18-55 is good. the reason for this is that i want to get a lot of the scenery in the shot.
I would use a tripod and three or more bracketed shots. Then i prosess the shots in Photomatix.
I dont take alot of HDR but have done it and we have played with it in my foto club.
Hope you dont get angry with me now Mandrake..

This might be a good place to begin a discussion of HDR photography. I have just begun to have an interest in this rather specialized type of picture taking and will post the single file that I have so far managed to complete.

If any of the group have taken HDR photographs, feel free to post here with some description of the process used. Oksana may at some time establish an HDR category in the shared photos section.

This photo was taken with a Nikon D5100, 55-300mm lens@55mm, f/8 at 1/1000 sec., ISO-200.
Exposure bracketing was +and- 2 ev stops with shutter release set at a two second delay so that one shutter press would take all three pictures used for the HDR process. Other cameras may work differently.

Processing was done with the free trial version of Photomatix which produces a finished HDR photo with watermarking. The program does, however, show a preview of the completed picture before saving. This can be be enlarged and captured with a screen capture utility and saved, thus avoiding the watermarking. The screen captured file is a fraction of the file size of the original photo, however not totally unacceptable for web viewing. As the photos were taken without a tripod, I did use the program's photo alignment option during processing. The use of a tripod when taking bracketed shots is highly recommended.

Anyway.... here is the result of a photo of the trees across the street from my window.
