Dale... Does your 18-55 have a focus motor? If so does it work well with the D7000, as that also has a motor.
As you know I have the D5100 (no motor) and 18-55 with motor.

I'm happy with the sharpness of this lens. For under$200 it

comes with IS and really does deliver a clean picture.

It's not for everything though. I personally don't use it much

for landscape shots because it seems to lose some sharpness.

I generally use the lens for closer shots and scenes with high contrast

areas.

I really like the lightweight and inexpensive 18-55mm "kit lens"

that I use on my D7000.

It's almost as sharp as my 35mm 1.8 prime plus it has the advantage

of zooming in or out a little bit.

As I do live in the "city of gardens" I figure I might as well take pictures

of some of the blooms while they last. Fall is on the way and winter is a

long, dark and usually rainy time of year up here so I'm building up a large

collection of raw pics to have fun with in post processing once the weather

changes.
