i think it's just dust. You will not see dust on this picture. The dust is mostly on the corners.

picture was cropped for composition purposes and the remaining  dust was healed using a soft healing brush.

Does your camera store know if it is dust or oil?
I know there was some confusion about it.

when a problem occurs Nikon will do the necessary repairs and

I also know that they will keep the item to be repaired for a long

time (at least in my case they kept a lens for well over a month!)

The camera and lenses you have are any Nikon users dream and the

pics you post are incredible BUT you are also a gifted photographer who

sees the image that you want to present before you take the shot. 

You have a great camera, great glass, and you possess the talent to take

wonderful images.

My story,

I was a Canon guy for a while as a matter of fact that was my first dslr. For many years. A small canon rebel XTi. It was my training horse. Before that I shot with a Minolta 3xi (film).

So after a long research and reading about different cameras review. The opportunity presented in the form of my Nikon D600. I was super excited. here it was, my first full sensor (serious camera) so without hesitation ran to my local Bestbuy to see it in person and couldn't leave the store without it. So needless to say I went home with my new camera. Bought myself my first lens 50mm prime lens f1.4. (after getting my camera and depleting my savings this was the only lens I could afford). 

So when I shot fully open at f1.4 you didn't notice the dirt but when I shot fully stopped down at f16 or f22 you could see the black dots when you zoom in.  I spent one hour shooting and 3 hours cleaning it. Soon after that I started hearing all the review and other people having similar issues. It's a shame that Nikon quality control is really bad. But besides this issue it's an amazing entry level to a full sensor camera. It's great in low light and when your pair it with great glass it just blows you away. The images are sharp and very clear. Nikon finally admitted that there is an issue with the sensor. you could send it to Nikon to have clean I believe it's free but they will keep your camera for weeks. I rather pay $60.00 at my local camera store and I can have my camera back in three days (in some cases within a couple of hours).

That's a professional combination and it came through for you.

It is a great composition with absolutely stunning colours and clarity!!!

Sorry to hear about the sensor and hope you can get it corrected with

professional cleaning. I hope Nikon is going to pay for the cleaning as

a gesture of good faith. I'd damned well make sure that if I was to purchase

the D600 it was in my written contract that any dust on the sensor would be

removed at Nikons expense - hell, they have more money than us and they should

be happy to keep great customers like you happy.

Yes, I really love my D600 although I have cleaned the sensor twice. And it's not 100% clean. I'm going to have it professionally clean at my local camera store.

This was my favorite. The name of this Balloon was Susie but they kept calling it "Sushie". Just a play on words.. very clever.
