I've played with it a bit and have come up with this.
I can't say if it's any better or worse... It is what it is.

I think the reason that I like the second is that it gives a purpose. 
The viewer has a place to go even though he is not on the path.
The path provides the leading line to his destination.
When there, he would sit and rest before continuing on his way.

I would prefer the color to be gray, as in the third photo.
This could easily be done by converting to B&W.

I actually like all 3 photos. They have a mood and can almost see them as a movie. I kind of expect somebody to show up in the photo. #2 is my favorite.

my opinion, its to dark. i like 1st picture. try change more light in lightroom, so we can see more detail on your picture
