Welcome to the forum Jane! We are happy to have you here! I can tell that you have an artistic eye. I like the shallow DoF you use in a lot of your photos. It is kind of hard to choose the favorite photo. If I would have to improve something, it would be the first and the last one. I think of center position on the subjects would be better. You use rule of third very successfully in your other pictures.

There are several shots of the statue heads that have been clipped at their tops and/or bottoms.
It is a good idea when taking photos to include more than you need in the viewfinder.
This would avoid chopping off some critical anatomy.

I actualy don't mind the clipped head at the top. This aproach used a lot by photographers and makes you concentrate on the eyes more. The worst cropping is at joints. I do agree that it is a good idea to put in the frame more then you actually need to be on the save side, but in this case you might get different DoF due to the distance or focal length change. You can always take 2 pictures: one - the way you think it should be and one - with more space around it, just in case.

Hello Jane. I'm very happy that you've been able to solve the upload problem.
It will be a great pleasure to have you in our group and to be able to view your photos and progress.
I am particularly fond of the next to last image due to it's soft focus and great bokeh.
I also like the framing that you've accomplished in the second image.

There are several shots of the statue heads that have been clipped at their tops and/or bottoms.
It is a good idea when taking photos to include more than you need in the viewfinder.
This would avoid chopping off some critical anatomy.

Good luck with your new camera. I'm sure it will bring you much pleasure.

Always great to see new members joining our group Jane!
We are all indebted to the hard work and long hours Oksana has put into
the absolutely wonderful video tutorials she has developed for our benefit.
I have seen every one (more than once) and have made a LOT of notes that
I refer to frequently.
Your pictures are great and you do have an artistic eye. The rule of thirds is
always good to remember. I used to put the grid up in my viewfinder just to check
and it did help.
Hope to see many more pics from you in the future.
