Glad you like the photo. The picture was taken with a black light, a light that produces ultraviolet light, best remembered for highlighting posters of the 1970s. The compote was shot in a darkened room on a black plastic surface with a black velvet covered board background. The black light was the only light source, hence the long exposure time.

Very interesting photo, James. I really like the glow that the black light provides.
What did you use to place the bowl on to cause the reflection? Black plexiglass?
If so, did it fill the frame so that there is no background behind the bowl?

This is an example of vaseline or uranium glass. The glass is unique in that when exposed to black light, it fluoresces green. Photo was taken with tripod mounted Canon t2i with EF 18-135mm lens set to 56mm at f/7.1 for 20 seconds at iso 200 under black light..
