That is a sharp shot using a 55-300.
ISO 800 remains very clean to me too.

The second shot appears to have worked very well.
The 35mm is an incredible lens. When I bought mine
a couple of years or so ago, I paid over $300. To get
that lens today for $200 is a no brainer!

Dale... You are, of course, right. The image is soft. The tripod did the job.
In my fumbling, I totally forgot about spot metering. I will remember next time.

The colours are fantastic but the image looks
slightly soft. Did you use a tripod or other support
to compensate for the slow exposure time?
Try one with spot metering and focus on an eye
to see what happens.

Now that is a well framed, beautiful picture!
Right down to the classy coaster
Perfect colours and just the right amount of ice.
It had to be JW black - the red would have cheapened it.
A masterpiece!!!
