Don't leave the forum - you have posted some great images and it will

be our loss if you decide to leave.

Some people really do like to see how altering an image they have posted

can make the image more pleasing. You don't share this feeling and that

is absolutely your right. I don't expect any image you may post in future (and

I hope you do continue to post images for us to enjoy) will be manipulated

in any way.

My final comment - hope you stay with our group and continue to share your

views (both good and bad) on pics that we post.

Dear Aleksandr,

I will not delete your account. We are happy to have you here and I think you are a wonderful photographer and photoshop master.

I am happy to have Mandrake on the forum as well. I think it is great that he is having opinion about everything.

We all are here to learn from each other and I think mscharff is right. If your image in used for "criticism, comment… teaching" it is not a big deal. It is not like Mandrake is selling and posting the images as his own. Sometimes it is easier to figure out what is wrong with an image or what would you do differently, after playing with it in Photoshop or Lightroom.

I hope you both can work it out!

Oksana

Okay... before this gets too far out of hand, maybe we could have a discussion of copyright and fair use in this forum. I looked up fair use and it states:

"the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright."

Since all of us post to this forum for "criticism, comment... teaching" is the downloading and reprocessing for the sole purpose of providing the criticism and comment (which the original author is posting and asking for) an infringement of copyright, or does it fall within fair use?

I'm not a lawyer, so I really don't know the answer but I thought it may be worthy of discussion.

Hell, I have enough trouble trying to make my own look ok lol!

Vitfoto, I know that images are extremely personal and laws do

apply to protect the owner, but, I also believe that Mandrake's

intentions are to help others. I hope you can see that and realize

that as a group we're far from perfect (speaking for myself of course)

but I think our main objective is to try and help others.

Vitfoto is right. It would be nice if you guys ask creator permission before post processing his/her images.

Please don't get offended, Vitfoto. It is a learning forum, so they just trying to help. Photography is an art and different people might see it in a different way. I actually like your post-processiong a lot. I don't think that background is distracting and it is much more interesting then just a curtain which looks kind of modern. Vignetting works well there too.

But I must agree with Mandrake, I don't get feel of 60s from this image for some reason. When I think of 60s I think more mid-century modern. To me it feels more like 20s-30s for some reason. For 60s I expect colors to me more saturated (they were very colorful in 60s). Maybe try some different wallpapers.

Last Saturday I photographed a birthday party with a 60's Mad Men theme. The top photo is the original out of the camera with some lightroom raw edit. The bottom picture all done is PS cs6, mostly with adjustment layers and blend modes. For the backdrop we used old gray curtain which didn't look good with the theme, I added the wallpaper texture with blend modes and basic selections.

What do you guys think, does this edit look like 1960's or I could have done something different?
