The lantern is a mystery, which, in my mind, makes it quite appealing.
What remains that is not seen?  It brightens nothing, but there must be more.

Perhaps I would prefer the light to be not at it's angle, if in fact it hung straight
and, perhaps, for there to be less empty space.
Did you take a series and chose this as your favorite?
