Hi Jaydev. I just got the D7000 so this is an upgrade for me. I've been using a D60 for a few years and got tired of the awkwardness of the menu system. Once I get the buttons memorized by my fingers I'll be happier. I do wish I had more confidence in Busch's book but I'll look into the Young book soon. Thanks for the heads up.

At least two Nikon cameras, the D3 and the D300, (there may be more) have a "Tripod Mode" when in live view.

I have D7000 and the same lens , the one you have.
I also bought a book ' Mastering the Nikon D7000' by Darrell Young.
Very useful and interesting books. I never refer to the Manual. you can easily buy on Amazon.

I never heard of 'tripod mode' instead it should be ' on tripod' when you use low shutter speed.
otherwise , hope you have a great time with your d7000 and the lens.
any plan to upgrade to d7100?

Hi Daniela;
I found out that "tripod mode" is available on other Nikon cameras. It seems that this is another example of cutting and pasting from one book to another without properly proofreading. The problem is that with a technical book if you lose faith in one part of it how do you have faith in any part? From my perspective I have to check with the Nikon manual to verify anything and everything.
I don't have the book on PDF only a hard copy.

Hello! I don't think a tripod mode exists, but I think it's a mistake and he is refering to using the mirror up mode when on tripod, to reduce even more the vibration. Do you have that book on PDF file? Cheers.

I'm not sure if this is the place to post this but I guess if it needs to be moved someone will do so.
Last week I got a Nikon D7000 with the 18 to 200mm lens. My first impressions of the camera are positive. I don't have any photos to share yet; mostly I've been testing it out and trying to memorize all the buttons and switches. I'm going away for a few weeks so I should have some when I get back.
The real topic of this post is the book by David Busch that I bought to help learn about the camera. When I first bought my D60 a few years ago I bought his book on that camera and was pleased with it. It went far beyond the manual that came with the camera and got me up and running a lot faster than I could have without it. It also served as a reference for any questions that came up with the camera. Sadly the book on the D7000 is much less helpful. There are countless errors that include various typos, mislabeled figures and photos, obvious cut and paste sections from other books and worst of all are the outright technical errors.
I won't bother to go into each error I found, I'm not getting paid to blue pencil his book, but one example is the reference to a "tripod mode". WTF? Anyone using this book should do what I did and refer back to the Nikon manual as painful as that is to verify any information in Busch's book.
