I think it's a cool image. I have an interest in astronomy and I totally agree

with the "points of light" and rotation of the earth. You managed to capture

some pleasant colours in this image and the lights in the lower right really

add to the overall look.

This was a pitch black night. 30 seconds at f/2.8, ISO 1600, just to get something on the sensor. The earth moves during that time, so you can't get points of light for the stars, unless you have a special rig to cancel the rotation of the earth.

The airplanes are moving toward the horizon, and they had just pass overhead.

On vacation here for a week, I took a walk on the beach at night. Two airplanes were passing overhead.

30s, f/2.8, ISO 1600, Nikon D7000, Tamron SP 17-50mm @ 17mm. The light at bottom right are, I believe, on Prince Edward's Island.
