Ed Hopper was a great artist.
His painting "Nighthawks" truly
is a masterpiece and so recognizable.
Bought for only $3000 and worth millions
today - pretty good investment I'd say.

Great retro look to this picture. It brings back
memories of the old days and that's great.
Once in a while "accidents" turn out to be so
much better than what we were originally trying
to achieve!
It's a great theme and the B&W approach serves
it perfectly.

Thanks for the welcome and the kind words. The Hopper painting, along with Luncheon of the Boating Party, is one of my two favorite paintings. So, I guess it was natural for me to think of it when I saw this photo.
The photo itself was an accident that turned out great. I was trying for the first time to shoot neon signs in the twilight. The sky was very dark but not yet completely black. My mistake was setting the ISO to 800. The original photo was full of noise and I hated it. I converted it to B&W and the noise became the grain of old newspaper photos and I loved it.
As the saying goes, If I can't be good let me be lucky.

When I first brought this image up on my screen I immediately thought of "Nighthawks",
a painting that I've always admired and sometimes known as "The Diner".

This is the result of my first attempt at outdoor night shooting. I didn't care for the color image so I converted it to B&W for an old time feel. Dedicated to Edward Hopper. I don't do a lot of computer work to photos but in this case I skewed the buildings a bit and did the conversion to B&W. Nikon D60 f/5 1/30 sec. ISO 800
