Praveen... All of my photography is with the D5100. I bought it when it first came out and have been shooting with it ever since. It's a great camera and perfect for your first DSLR. I wish you the best with it and I'm sure you will be happy with what it can do.

About post processing... Most say it's better if you shoot in RAW, but you really do not have to. I've processed hundreds of JPEG images with great success. What software do you have? Photoshop is much too expensive and really not necessary. If I were you I'd go with Lightroom and Photoshop Elements. Adobe offers free trials for both.

Good luck with the new camera....

Dear Mandrake,

I too find the D5100 quite a beauty to start it...

I got Lightroom 5 & finding it easier than Photoshop..

Thanks,

Praveen

The colors are quite vibrant for out of camera.

It would be interesting to see what a little post might do.
I would sharpen a bit as the image is a bit soft.
