Sunrise and sunset pics are really easy.
All I do is expose for the lightest area to
prevent it from getting blown out. For this
pic the settings were: ISO 100 120mm f6.3
1/320second, camera set to landscape with
spot metering. Not much done in post processing
other than setting to Adobe Standard in Lightroom
and maybe a little clean up (can't remember lol).
Now go out and take some great sunrise/sunset pics for
us to see.

Hi Nikonguy,
I like the second picture the most. And I think it's due to the color contrast and how vivid the color of the sky is. It looks (in my mind and vision) like a Tsunami wave of fire!!. lol (how about that for drama?). But really, the contrast between the blacks and yellows work great on this picture.
I've been fortunate to have visit Vancouver British Columbia back in 2004 and took a ferry to go to Victoria the capital of Vancouver. Saw the Parliament building and the Empress Hotel, walked around the water front and visit as many souvenir shops . Lovely people, very friendly. Can't wait to visit again someday soon.

Second one portrays actual event much better!
B.S.E. - I live in Victoria - an island off the coast of
British Columbia. We have all 4 seasons here and are
lucky to observe some strange cloud formations and
amazing sunsets/sunrises on occasion.
Thanks munee - I really like the colours on these too - they
were more brilliant than I captured and the sun (lower orange glow)
looked like a fire behind the trees!

hi,
where such a great sunrise can be observed? I'm living in town, and I can only dream to see dawn with a sun just a bit over horizon.
The clouds can tell the story about the wind (from left to right).
For me second pict, is a winner. Great colours.
best regards
B.S.E.

This is a great shot, Dale. I really like the bit of extra light peeking through the trees
and the tall tree at the right gives it that extra spark of interest.

Congrats... Mandrake.
