The tower, which stands 30 mtr high was built in 6th century by St. Kevin .The purpose of the towers has been somewhat unclear until recent times and it seems it was used to store religious relics. But it is not so clear. Some people says that this was built for defensive purpose . please click this link to know more about this tower and other monuments in Glendalough.
