birds in the distance would be much more effective if they were
in a descending order of size, or even both the same size but both
larger than what appears on my screen.
Quite honestly at first I thought the larger (small) bird was a dust mark or
other imperfection in the pic and I really had to look for the smallest
bird to see it. And I'm using a 21.5 Mac so it's not a huge monitor but
it's not a 13 or 15 inch laptop either. A couple of birds the size of the ones
in the top image would be perfect IMHO.
Just my thoughts on it - I wouldn't have bothered a follow up comment if I
didn't think the image was worth the time but I think it is.

it whenever possible.
I can see Mandrake's point - it really is a good pic and the two
tiny birds aren't necessary.
If I had taken this picture I would try a few crops to see what I
was comfortable with and then post it and wait for the comments.
Great image and great sky color to add strength to the main subject.

At first I thought you were correct. I tried cropping as you said, and honestly, I like it
better the way it is. The only change I made was to remove the two tiny other birds. This made
the subject in complete control of his expansive sky. A beautiful color, I might add.
