Hello Ian.... Thank you so much for your interest. Please understand that the last two photos of the squirrel are uncropped shots that I have posted to show how I did the framing. It is the middle photo that I chose to use and the top picture is the end result after some minor cropping and PSE enhancement.

Oksana had commented that she might have framed the photo a bit differently. I therefore posted the uncropped original and a second photo that I had taken at the same time with a shorter focal length. I did this so that she would know what it was that I had to work with. So far, she has not suggested any changes.

Have fun with your grandchildren. I have three and there is always something new we can learn from them.

Hi,

Great Pics Mandrake, I looked at the two framing pics and have come to the conclusion they are both really good and, even though I am an amateur at this I would like to give two reasons why I think this way.
1. The frame done by Mandrake with that almost closeup feature I believe appeals to young people approximately up to about 7 or 8 years old, and
2. The frame done by Oksana (I presume) appeals to higher age groups and is excellent for Nature manuals, books etc.

To come to this conclusion i tested them on my 7 Grandkids and their parents who, percentage wise, agreed with me. The really young ones loved the big picture of the Squirrel as it gave them a feeling of hugeness and a cuddly feel is a good way of putting it.

Please note that I am NOT being a critic or critiqeing other people's work just making observations that may not have occurred to others. I actually like all the pics you have shown us..

Happy Snapping ppls

Ian .....
