Here are my thoughts, scattered as they are:

If a person adamantly does not want his/her photos to be edited in any way, just say so.

But I think the best policy would be to grant permission. As in 'Here is a picture I did, how do I do this effect' and let the other members edit it to provide examples, etc.

This is such a rich learning environment here, where we can all help each other, and sometimes the best way to do so is to edit an image to demonstrate how something will look when certain adjustments are made.

I'm on a life long learning quest to see how I can improve my photographic

skills. I welcome constructive criticism and appreciate

others opinions about my efforts. If someone wants to alter an image I have

posted go ahead as I have the original. The objection would be to alter an image

and reproduce it for financial gain - then the game changes! Anyone who attempted

to do this would be in severe violation of the law as far as I'm concerned.

I've been a member of easyexposure for quite some time now and I have had the

opportunity to view many remarkable images by our members.

Lets keep easyexposure a growing and friendly community with the intention of

advancing the skills of our already talented membership!

Peace to you all and keep taking those remarkable photographs for us to enjoy!!!

You are reading my mind! I just wanted to send everybody an email about this. Every week or so we can have 1 image (mine or anybody's, who want to submit one) for editing. It would be so much fun to see how different people can interpret the same image.

I would say we should have no limits: it can be simple basic edition, turning into B&W, sepia, special effects, composite, reattaching.

Just please don't submit any images you are too sensitive about, because you never know the outcome, lol!

It also much easier to edit Raw images or at least larger Jpeg. I need to figure out the way how you can submit and download larger files. Then after edit, you can post them resized on the forum in Edit section. What do you think about that?

Jeannie... I think that this is an excellent idea. Perhaps it could be expanded to include a list of members who would not take any objection to others downloading any of their already posted photos and editing them for constructive purposes.

Let me be the first to add my name to such a list.

First, I agree, I don't think it breaks any copyright laws to change a photo for the sole purpose of showing another member of the forum something... I guess a lot depends on the purpose of the forum... if it is to learn from each other then there shouldn't be an issue. This is why I voted yes unless the individual states "don't edit". I only post pictures I think were pretty good in the first place and am looking for comments and feedback on how to become better. Part of that may be in post production. I don't know about others, but I have a lot to learn about post production. The worse that would happen is that someone edits your photo and you don't like it. But it may still highlight some edit that you had not known or haven't used.

All that to say the forum is focused on learning and getting better... my vote is that we can edit each other's photos for the sole purpose of reposting them on this site unless the owner of the photo states not to edit.
